Gas Commercialisation Opportunities
Ghana’s upstream petroleum producing fields has considerable amount of associated and non-associated gas.
The country’s desire to commercialize that gas as possible for mainly domestic use led to establishment of a gas processing plant in the Western Corridor were all the current producing fields are located.
Initially, the gas was earmarked for thermal power plants, but with increasing quantity of gas, lack of adequate infrastructure and the desire to limit gas flaring, opportunities for development of gas
infrastructure to other corridors of the country and other secondary utilization of gas become a priority, especially now that power producing capability is above demand. Secondary Utilization of Gas Project: This project involves investment into other secondary utilization of processed gas such as in methanol plants to produce methanol, plants to petrochemical products. The strategy for the investment/business could be solely owned or in partnership with Ghana Gas.
